As the pages of a book are turned, a child's world is broadened. Literature is valuable for many reasons: it sparks children's creativity and imagination; introduces them to new people, places, and ideas; builds their vocabulary and strengthens their use of language; and clarifies difficult situations and troublesome feelings. In short, books help children reach out to the world beyond home and community and perceive an ever-expanding array of possibilities.
Books also foster the attachment between parent and child. Few childhood delights rival snuggling up to mom or dad for a gentle, engaging bedtime story.
Orientations toward books and reading develop early in life. Pleasant, happy experiences with books and stories during the formative years are vital for a continuing love and curiosity into adulthood. The secret to instilling a love of literature in your child is letting your child observe you reading for pleasure and information. If you display interest and enthusiasm, then your child will likely share your affection for the printed word.
Throughout the years of childhood, expose your child to quality books of all kinds: picture, story, rhythm and rhyming, adventure and mystery, fantasy, interpersonal relationships, travel, reference, riddles and puzzles, arts and science. Reading will become a treasured part of your child's life.

Bird Lovers
Healthy birds are active for most of every day as they go about normal activities. When we choose a bird as a companion, we need to supply plenty of opportunities for stimulating physical and emotional activity that suits the unique needs of the individual bird. Because we control their environment, it's up to us to provide the opportunity for action.
Birds should not remain confined in a cage all day, every day. This results in a condition we refer to as cageosis. Cage-bound birds exhibit neurotic impulses such as feather pulling, screaming, and endless bouncing or banging their bodies on the sides of the cage. Many people mistake this behavior as happy dancing. You can compare the bird's frustration and resulting mental illness to that of a human who has been kept in solitary confinement with nothing to do for endless periods of time.
An exception to this would be small birds such as finches that are kept in flocks in large cages or aviaries. These birds carry on their daily activities much as they would in the wild. To keep them happy and healthy give them enough room to fly and interact, plenty of perching spots away from the flight paths, nutritious food and nests or nesting materials.
With other birds, though, you must provide regular activity time outside the cage as well a rotation of appropriate toys inside the cage. The best way to make sure you give your bird adequate activity time is to create a formal schedule. Every bird should be allowed out of its cage at least twice daily. If your day is busy, let your bird out of its cage for a short time in the morning and then plan the more extensive out-of-cage interaction time in the evening, centered around sharing dinner and evening pastimes.

Free internet marketing
How To Find Free Internet Marketing
by: Mark Walters
New ecommerce businesses are caught up in SEO and web optimization. They view Google as the holy grail of making profits via the internet. Their internet marketing budget is sank into buying traffic, optimizing pages, and establishing major PayPerClick programs with the major search engines. All the work, and expense, involved in following the pack, is virtually unnecessary in today’s ecommerce world. Marketing the Website Submitting to search engines is only the first step toward a strong Internet Marketing campaign – it should never be the full focus. There are several ways to market a website. - search engine optimization - Pay Per Click - Search Engine Submission - Generating Inbound Links and increasing Page Rank - Building Content - Adding Social Networking Tools such as forums Each one of these tools have a benefit. Recently a blog community went from PR0 – PR4, and receiving 300 000 hits a month with a budget of $50 a month. The blog community invested $20 a month in a PayPerClick program to ‘boost’ their exposure on Google and be accepted and ‘ranked’ faster. www.communati.com submitted the website to more than 3000 search engines, free, using www.webceo.com. Despite the ‘old’ search engine hype, this should only be done once or twice a year. They embarked on an article writing, forum promoting, and encouraging members to ‘put the word out.’ The inbound link campaign increased their Page Rank to PR4 within 5 months, an incredible feat. Next, communati added social networking features like points and a chat. The important ‘trick’ to remember is that search engines give more rank to pages inside the website, not the index or home page. Building links to the home page is becoming a waste of time. Five articles with specific topics that contain high keywords, links to the rest of the ecommerce website, and ‘hooks’, will generate more PR than links to a buy now page, the index page, or a page with heavy images and graphics. Marketing the Blog All websites should include a blog. Not because a blog is necessary, or because people read them. The number one reason for putting up a blog is to increase keyword density, but keep in below the 5% ‘red flag’ level. It also generates dozens of extra content pages, increases the number of ‘in house’ links which are also important to increasing page rank. A blog can also be submitted to blog directories. The best way to submit is using a service. When an Internet Marketing manager submits a blog to a directory, they must include a backward link. When they use a service they can submit to about 1000 directories without back links. The price ranges from $200 - $500. http://www.lazyurl.com/, http://www.submitcomfort.com/ One advantage of a blog is that it is submitted to the blog directories every time someone writes a new post. Web sites that are submitted more than 4 or 5 times a year may find themselves banned. However, a blog can ping the search engine several times a day without risk of being banned. In turn, the blog search engines ‘ping’ the big search engines who give the ‘new’ content high page rank for the first few hours. Marketing The Podcast No podcast on your ecommerce website? Why? Submitting it to the podcast directories is another way to generate free exposure. The podcast only needs a few streaming or downloaded files to qualify. Podcasts can also be listed on dozens and dozens of free services, each building links to the main site, as well as increasing the exposure to the website. AmigoFish.com, Digg Podcasts , Podcast Pickle , www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts or http://podcasts.yahoo.com. The most popular podcatcher software is iTunes, which is available as a free download from www.apple.com/itunes/download. Promote Video Does your product Appeal to younger people? Then load video at facebook, youtube, etc and then submit those videos. Don’t make a dry workshop or seminar style tutorial, but make it interesting. It is amazing how many younger people click in keywords, and then use the ‘search video only’ link to view relevant videos instead of reading articles. The list continues. Submit your newsletter, forums, and chat directories. A single article can be submitted to more than 50 000 article submission ‘free content’ sites. No cost involved, except time, and the exposure will create a ripple effect sending your message farther across the web than a $100 000 SEO, traffic buying, and search engine submission campaign.

Raw food - 2
Ways You Didn't Know You Were Saving Money Eating Raw Food
Raw fooders tend to talk about the high cost of organic produce, superfoods, raw nuts, and the slew of other raw goodies out there.Where is the savings? Not only do we as raw fooders tend to forget the ailments we used to have after "going raw", but we also tend to not think about the myriad of ways we are saving money in other aspects of life. Some not even directly related to raw food!20 Ways You Didn't Know You Were Saving Money Eating Raw Food
Toilet Paper - We're not going to explain this one. Let's just say we use way less than we used to.
Tissues - Besides detox symptoms, we rarely use tissue paper any more. No more blowing your nose when nothing is in there.
Food Costs - Ok, this has been a pretty big debate among raw fooders. It depends on what you are eating, but personally, we eat a lot less (in volume) than we used to. Besides the occasional superfood purchase, we can safely say that we spend probably 1/4 of what we used to on food, maybe even half. Sure, we ate more raw food in the beginning, but after years of eating raw, we continue to notice that we need less and less food! We didn't believe that it was possible when we first heard about raw food...but for us, it has been true, and it has been a true savings!
Trash Bags - If you compost (even just during the summer), you are going to save a lot of money here. Not like trash bags cost very much, but consider it part of what you are saving. Just think of all that stuff that doesn't go into the trash bags anymore. Saving some money and saving the environment? Cool.
Water - This isn't about drinking water, because the cost of drinking water usually goes up as you seek higher and higher qualities of clean water. But how much less do you shower? How much less do you flush your toilet? What about not having to scrub pots and pans in large amounts of water? We both clean off in the shower extremely fast, shampoo goes through our hair like butter. Washing the Vita-Mix uses a tiny amount of water. Once again this is saving you money and being nice to the Earth. Nice!
Moisturizer & Skin Creams - Besides the fact that most of these creams and lotions contain toxic chemicals, we both find that we rarely need to moisturize, and when we do, coconut oil, avocados, or some really good chemical-free cream or MSM cream will do the trick nicely.
Deodorant - According to Heidi, I "no longer smell." Hmmmm, never could smell myself, now that I think about it. But seriously, I use crystal deodorant, and not only does it cost so much less, I find that on some days, I don't even need it.
Cotton Swabs - We used to use at least two a day to clean our ears (we won't get into details), but now we use maybe two a week. Our ears are so clean now, that it's simply a waste. We still keep some in the house, but we hardly use them anymore.
Green Savings - Just being in the raw "movement", you begin to learn a lot about eco-living (if you didn't already know). Just the amount of money we save using energy efficient bulbs alone is astounding.
Lip Balm - For those of you that don't live in the freezing tundra of Minnesota you might not be able to relate, but for those of us who do, our skin never looks forward to below freezing temperatures. As the years have gone by, we noticed that our lips almost never get dry anymore. Our skin still doesn't like the cold, but it doesn't crack or break at all. Heidi still loves her Burt's Bees lip balm, but she no longer feels the need to put it on 10 times a day!
Makeup - OK Ladies....it's Heidi here! Once you go raw, you'll notice that you are using less makeup, if any at all! Of course, this cost savings is for women (or married couples), but all you women out there know that makeup can be expensive if you use it everyday. Once you go raw, you no longer need for concealer for dark circles under eyes, or covering up acne that doesn't exist now that you have clear skin!
Shampoo - After being fully raw, you usually need less shampoo than you used to have to put in your hair every day. Depending on the quality of your water, you probably needed to use shampoo twice to really clean your hair. Now that you are raw, you might already be using a natural shampoo like Dr. Bronner's shampoo. If you use Dr. Bronner's to wash your hair, you'll notice that you use a small amount, and it is cheaper than regular shampoo. Buy a gallon bottle of the good stuff and you'll save a lot in a year!
Conditioner - We both have long hair, so we both use conditioner. Yet once again, we both have noticed that we use a slightly smaller amount in our hair than before we went raw. We have our choices of conditioners, but we buy our hair conditioners online, and with some sites that offer free shipping we have noticed cost savings!
Coffee - For a former coffee addict (Justin), this was enough to probably buy myself a nice used car every year. Seriously, though, coffee used to be a separate expense on my budget sheet. I can only imagine how much money I've saved from not drinking it (or even just cutting it down significantly).
Soda, Cola, Carbonated Beverages - No matter how often you drank a soda here and there, it really would make a difference in cost savings to not drink it any more. And if you used to be one of those "64 oz. of Mountain Dew a day" kind of soda drinker...that is a huge cost savings! (And by the way...we live in Minnesota, so we call it "Pop"!)
Clothing Costs - After losing all of my weight on raw food (Justin), my weight has stabilized and I no longer need to buy larger or smaller sizes. This is especially important for women, as they tend to gain and lose weight (throughout the year) much easier than men. Think about it!
Medical Savings - And of course, doctor and medical bills. The stories we have heard (and our own experiences) are perhaps the greatest draw people find to the raw food diet. Heidi has cured herself of "incurable" migraines, arthritis, psoriasis, fatigue, back pain, and many more ailments. We will leave it up to you to ponder the cost savings in this very popular category. (Note: Our doctors and physicians are absolutely wonderful people who have your health and well-being in mind. Many of them just don't know any better.)
Restaurants - Unless you live by ten raw food restaurants, you probably rarely (if ever) go out to restaurants to eat anymore. This alone may be your biggest money saver of all.
Tips at Restaurants - Not only restaurant prices, but also tipping, which can add up to huge costs throughout an entire year.
Entertainment Costs - Don't get my wrong here, we are both all about entertainment, but we have found that we don't need the escape of constant entertainment that we used to. So many simple things have become incredibly pleasurable that we are constantly entertained by life itself! There you have it! 20 totally real cost savings once you go raw! Take a look at this list and count how many of these things you used to spend money on that you aren't spending money on any more. It will probably astound you.For all those number crunching types...you might even want to take it a step further and look at previous budgets in past years and compare them to what you are spending now. You might even want to look at old bank statements and see what you used to spend your money on with your debit card. I know that we had a lot of coffee purchases in the past...and now that isn't a part of our reality. What are your cost savings? What are you saving the most money on?If you haven't, you should take a look, the results will astonish you.Just one more reason to be thankful for raw food.- JS & Heidi

Steve Pavlina Experiments With Raw Food
Steve Pavlina is someone who has had many Life Experiments that would fit into the broad term "personal development". Steve has blogged about his experiments with diverse life experiments such as GTD (Getting Things Done), lucid dreaming, polyphasic sleep, why you shouldn't get a job, and many more topics we don't have time to mention here. And now, Steve is experimenting with raw food for 30 days. Right now, Steve has chosen to adopt an 80/10/10 diet, which means lots and lots of fruit. At the time of this writing Steve is on Day 17 of eating nothing but raw fruits and vegetables...and a little tahini dressing in the first few days. What we appreciate the most about Steve embarking on a journey such as this is that Steve is a master conductor of experiments. His blog posts are calculated, informative and include photos of many of his meals. After reading his posts you can get a feel as to what he is experiencing while he tries to eat raw all the time.On Day 13, Steve had an amazing revelation that we want to share with all of you:
Free Advice
"I’ve been getting a lot of free advice from people on how I might tweak this diet to improve my results. Unfortunately the advice is inconsistent. Some say I should eat more greens and less sweet fruit. Some say I’ll do better with more fat, especially more nuts and seeds. And at least a couple people say I’ll do better if I reduce the fat below 10% and focus on eating even more fruit. Some say I’m eating too much, while others suggest I should eat more. A few people recommended I add “superfoods” or powdered green drinks to my diet. And then there are those who say it can take a few months for my body to adapt and that I should keep doing what I’m doing for 90+ days. Much of this advice is coming from raw foodists who have significant experience eating a similar diet.
I do appreciate the feedback and advice. Unfortunately it would be impossible for me to implement all of these suggestions at once, and I don’t want to change the rules as I go along, at least for this particular 30-day period. All of these suggestions could turn into 30-day trials of their own. Hopefully I’ll have this diet thing figured out before I die."
Let's recap all the suggestions on what people told Steve he should do differently:
eat more greens and less sweet fruit
eat more fat, especially more nuts and seeds
reduce fat to less than 10% and eat more fruit
eat less food
eat more food
add superfoods to your diet
add green powders to your diet
keep eating what you are eating for 90 days or moreThat is a lot of suggestions. And if anyone were to take all of these suggestions to heart all at the same time, all they would end up with is confusion. This is a classic example of how many people who originally hear about the benefits of a raw food diet can get bombarded with so many conflicting suggestions at once. Personally, it took both of us a couple years to learn to trust our own bodies, intuition, and logic and how to sift through the many dietary opinions of raw foodists worldwide.Steve also mentioned on Day 17 one of what we believe is one of the largest stumbling blocks for most beginning raw foodists:
"I had some minor cravings for cooked food today, but they passed once I ate more raw food. I don’t think it will be a problem for me to make it through the remaining 13 days of this trial, but I’m still uncertain as to whether I’d want to continue with this diet in the long run. As you can probably imagine, it would require a significant lifestyle change. I’m still spending more time in the kitchen than I did before, and I’m definitely spending more time eating. But I must keep in mind that measuring and reporting what I’m eating significantly increases the required effort. This trial would be much easier if I wasn’t tracking everything so meticulously." (emphasis ours)When started this blog, our goal was to address this very concern that many, many raw foodists who get into this lifestyle find: the time requirements and steep learning curve for eating this. We were inspired to take the name Raw Food, Right Now! to find, learn, and blog about as many ways as possible to make this dietary lifestyle easy and fun.We think it is great that Steve is taking 30 days to try this style of raw eating out. After the 30 days he can evaluate and determine what he would like to try next. Only Steve will know what path he will choose after this experiment. Why don't you take a moment and read Steve's journey so far.
You can even leave Steve a comment or send him an email and tell him what style of raw food eating he should try next!~ Heidi & JS

Toddler Pillows Tips For A Perfect Little Fit
by: Patricia Bowlin
A toddler pillow is a pillow that is just the right size for a child of two years or more. Prior to age two, use of a pillow of any type is considered dangerous and is not recommended. Babies should sleep without the possibility of snuggling their little heads under a pillow and potentially smothering. Toddler pillows are about half the size of a standard adult pillow and they have their own special pillow cases that are made to fit. A child of two to five or six years old simply can not sleep comfortably on a large standard adult pillow. Their necks and shoulders can not be comfortable because the pillow is too large and too thick. The toddler's special pillows allow your child's head, neck and shoulders to be supported just like yours but in a size proportional to the child's smaller body. Measurements for pillows for toddlers are usually 12 inches by 16 inches in size. Pillow cases for the toddler's special pillow come in a wide range of prints and colors to fit in with any bedding theme you may have in your child's room. When traveling, the pillow for your toddler will be great for carrying in the car for napping or for sleeping in hotels. Since hotel pillows are traditional thick and fluffy, your child will be much more comfy and sleep better with their own little pillow. There are even allergy-proof pillows in toddler sizes available if your child is allergic to pillow fill. You'll even find pillow covers that are toddler sized for additional allergy proofing. If your child doesn't have allergies, you can select down fill for their special little pillow, or you can select polyester fiber fill. Each will last pretty well, but you will pay a bit more for 100% down fill. Now that you know all about toddler pillows you'll probably want to have several on hand so you have enough for sleep overs.

Teleseminar How-to Guide: The T-Profit System.
A Review by: Elisabeth Kuhn
Teleseminars seem to be all the rage these days, and for good reason. They're a great way to build lists and make money, both for the organizers and their guests. They're also really great for creating a connection between audience and expert, a connection that has two-way benefits. If you've been wondering how you could possibly get in on the action, wonder no more: Filmmaker Andy Duncan (of "I Need Cash Now" fame) and his business partner Steve Roye have put together the T-Profit System, the ultimate step-by-step how-to guide for putting together a teleseminar series that delivers the goods, for the audience, your JV-partners, and yourself. You may have thought you could never do that. You may not think of yourself as an expert. You don't think you're very witty. Heck, you may be shy! But Andy and Steve will quickly reassure you that neither exceptional wit nor fame or even expertise is required. Even better, teleseminar are among the easiest and most inexpensive products to produce. What's not to like? The T-Profit system consists of a total of eight MP3s, along with PDF transcripts, plus live Q&A sessions. First, there are the four instructional MP3s, in which Andy and Steve present the basic formula. They give some background and how they themselves got started. They talk about the reason why teleseminars work as well as they do. And then they launch into the details of exactly how you can go about putting together your own. BTW, "instructional" may not be quite the right word for those MP3s. Yes, you'll learn a ton - as promised. But they are so much fun you sure won't feel like you're studying terribly hard. Just in case you're still intimidated, they provide you with three examples of teleseminars with experts who themselves were new to the teleseminar genre. For two of them, that very teleseminar you'll be hearing was their very first. And yet, they sound like old pros! As mentioned above, the MP3s also come with transcripts, and many of them have outlines as well. A bonus seminar, produced as a bonus for one of the example seminars, is included as well. It's a terrific introduction to affiliate marketing by Erik Stafford, also known as the Faster Webmaster. Here's yet another thing that makes T-Profit System special: included in the price are three bonus coaching calls in monthly intervals (actually, there was a fourth one that took place right after the system was launched, for all the early bird sign-ups), where Steve and Andy will answer any questions that come up. And I really mean ANY questions. Andy and Steve are incredibly gracious and helpful. I've asked a few really basic questions, and Steve walked me patiently through all of my challenges. He did the same for other callers. They didn't even laugh! I bought T-Profit System the minute it came out. Why? I loved Andy's "I Need Cash Now" program, and also did Andy and Steve's 4 week coaching program. I got so much out of the two programs, I felt the T-Profit system was a complete no-brainer. And that even though I believed that I already knew enough about teleseminars from the coaching program (and I did know a lot!), this program actually delivered even more details and step-by-step guidelines, thereby greatly reducing the intimidation factor, and greatly increasing the potential for success. I also find that I learn best when I get the same info presented several different ways. Considering that I was a total web newbie about 6 months ago, I keep finding myself absolutely astonished by how far I've come. I have multiple websites, blogs, I've already come up with a concept for a series of teleseminars, and I have even done (and uploaded!) my first interview. Look for more on all that in the near future. For right now though, you may want to check out the T-Profit System, so you'll get in on the live coaching calls while they last.

Does Coffee Have Any Antioxidant Benefits?
by: Aaron Matthews Morgan
Before we get all excited over the recent news about coffee being our new antioxidant, we need to take a look at the entire picture. Is there truly a coffee antioxidant? If there is, how exactly is coffee an antioxidant? Does it become the antioxidant when it's heated? Does the coffee antioxidant benefit everyone? Are there still dangers to drinking coffee? How much coffee is good for us and when does it become bad for us? Brewed coffee contains many antioxidants and consumption of antioxidant-rich brewed coffee may inhibit diseases caused by oxidative damages. Antioxidants are said to be an inhibitor of certain types of diseases. However, coffee beans are not all a like. Not all coffee beans are of the same quality or even the same make up. Sort of like comparing tennis shoes to sandals. Both go on your feet, but they are not made up of the same components. You can actually break coffee down into several different water-soluble components. The dietary fiber derived from roasted coffee silverskin. This is one component of the coffee bean that has high antioxidant content. This is how the scientists find out about the antioxidant benfits of coffee in their studies. What they do in fact is the break down the coffee beans into different components. They filter out the components that the coffee antioxidant is found in, and then they test lab rats in a variety of experiments to determine how well they survive with or without the various additives in their diet. When they discover something really swell, like a coffee antioxidant, our culture of coffee drinking addicts suddenly becomes a feverorish mob. For years and years we've heard bad things about coffee. For example: it's bad for your heart, increases blood pressure, may cause breast cancer, probably keeps you awake at night, and my personal favorite, has a poisonous gas when brewed. When the world of coffee addicts even gets a tiny hint that coffee could have something beneficial, believe me they don't just drink more coffee, they try to get everyone to join them. So, here we now have scientific studies proving to us that coffee has antioxidants. Researchers have identified several compounds in coffee that create a coffee antioxidant. Why would this be of interest to us? Because scientific studies are showing that antioxidants may help prevent cancer. You see the connection here. However, until human studies are done, science cannot state exactly how much coffee must be consumed in order gain this protection against colon cancer or any other type of cancer. Before the coffee is roasted the antioxidant benefits are varied. However, once the coffee is roasted and served as a drink things get evened out. They all seem to have the same degrees of antioxidants. Some studies suggest coffee having other benefits such as added fertility in men and some benefits for those suffering from diabetes. You'll have to read those studies on your own. The fact that a coffee antioxidant exists may be true, but the reality is that coffee can be just as harmful if your body doesn't like it, if you consume too much, if you have high blood pressure, and if it keeps you awake at night. Is there truly a coffee antioxidant? Yes, but the actual amount needed to be consumed in order to receive the anti-cancer benefits by humans is unknown. How exactly is coffee an antioxidant? Coffee alone isn't the antioxidant, it's several different components that are part of the coffee bean. Roasting and heating the coffee changes the total antioxidant output. Does it become the antioxidant when it's heated? It seems that although some coffee beans like green coffee beans may be higher in antioxidants that other more common beans, once they are roasted and heated for consumption, the results are the same regarding the antioxidantal benefits. Does the coffee antioxidant benefit everyone? Honestly, this is NOT a question easily answered. In fact, the truth is it is still unknown just how beneficial coffee antioxidants are for humans. Are there still dangers to drinking coffee? Yes, of course there is. If you have high blood pressure and you have seen how coffee enhances this problem, you know it's bad for YOU personally. If you can't get proper sleep or you drive everyone around you nuts because you can't sit still or shut-up, you know coffee is bad for you. Use common sense and listen to your body. Coffee is not good for everyone and unknown just how good for anyone. How much coffee is good for us and when does it become bad for us? Again drink coffee in moderation, pay attention to your own body. Exercise and good eating habits are a far better way to get healthy than drinking 10 cups of cappuccino a day. All things in moderation. After reading everything about this new thing called a coffee antioxidant I have decided that there are better ways of getting antioxidants into my blood. Coffee may have many benefits, but so does water and it is possible to drown from drinking too much water. Yes, I know, you have to really drink a lot to accomplish this, but it's the principle of the matter. Too much of anything is not a good thing.
